Tint Centre Series final indoor R/C racing will be taking place this weekend at Cornerstone Church (315 Lenore Drive) in Saskatoon. Since it is the Championships and our final race till next fall we are going out with a bang. Racing will get started at 7pm on Friday night instead of just Saturday. We plan to hold a qualifiers and a final race on each day. However, cost for the weekend will remain at $10, which will give you 2 races instead of just one! The point series will wrap up, prizes will be handed out, and a champion will be crown. But don’t worry if you haven’t been to enough races to compete in the point series as some good racing over 2 days is still available, even to first time drivers. So if you are over 12 years old and looking for a great time, head on over and join the races! Dads are more than welcome as well, why not challenge your son this weekend! Also note that if you can only make it to one day, that’s okay too.

Summer holidays are often a great way to recuperate and relax, but each summer many people choose to give a portion, and sometimes all of this time to serve others at camp. We have paid and volunteer positions for people of all ages. We are currently short on junior cabin leaders (aged 16+), and we’re always looking for maintenance and kitchen help. We are still looking for a horseback riding director to head up our program at the barn, and a full-time lifeguard at the pool for the summer.

We may not be able to pay you what you’re worth, but we’ll give you an experience that is priceless! If you or someone you know are interested in getting involved, head on over to the staff section of our website, or contact us for more information.

This fall for the third year straight, Ranger Lake was searching for a new site manager to take care of building and campsite maintenance and management. God answered our prayers by providing Ray and Lorna Bourget. Along with their daughter, Debbie, the Bourgets moved to camp in February from their work at Circle Square Ranch in Alberta. Ray enjoys working with horses and the outdoors; he served as a wildlife officer in the North West Territories for many years!

As missionaries, the Bourgets are currently raising funds to help cover their salary at Ranger. If you’re interested in helping them out, or if you just want to say ‘hi’, please email ray@rlbc.ca

Built in 1997, our climbing wall served thousands of eager campers, but after many years of decay, wear and tear, it was time to say “Good-bye” to the old green hangout. With only the four posts and the foundation left, we’re starting fresh with a new design that incorporates new challenges and conveniences. Smoother plywood, a large roof to shelter from the elements, four climbable sides, brand-new climbing holds, and a few neat surprises will be waiting for you by the time our Free-4-All starts on June 24th. A big thanks to Home Sweet Homebuilders in advance for supplying labour for this renovation!

Tint Centre Race Series hit the road and travelled farther this month as we raced at Territorial Drive Alliance Church in North Battleford. A new group of young drivers got a chance to try and master our indoor track. With the warmest weekend of the year we had slightly less drivers than usual, but our top 3 competitors didn’t seem to mind. Pro Driver, Jon Scheider was away this race, which opened the door for some fantastic competition between Pro Driver, Zach MacGregor and up and coming young Ethan. This was Ethan’s first race with his new Slash and he seemed to have dialed it in after the first qualifier and put some good pressure on the Pros. In the end Zach got the hole shot on the first corner in the A-Main and no one could seem to catch up.

Here’s the race results from day.

After 4 races here are the point totals. With only the championship weekend left the points remain close. Only 50% of total races count. With 2 more races during the championship weekend (Fri + Sat) the point totals will only count your top 3 finishes.

We’re counting down the days until summer camp begins, and we are excited for what God has in store for us at Ranger Lake this summer! We’ve had a few staff changes at our camp over the winter: Greg Benson has taken on new responsibilities as the Camp Director and will be running the day to day operations of the camp, like hiring summer staff and administrating our rental program. Charlotte Thiessen has returned to the Ranger team, but this time as the Administrative Assistant in a full-time, year-round role. She’ll be doing things like organizing camper registrations, staff applications, and director’s schedules. She will be a huge help in enabling our camp to efficiently accomplish the goals of our ministry. And of course, Ray Bourget is our new site manager, and you can read more about him in the Site Manager section of the Roundup.

With these changes, as Executive Director I am able to spend more time raising funds and planning development for our site improvement projects. Right now we are building a new duplex on our campsite. We are short on staff housing and this is the first step in addressing that need, as well as prepare our camp to be able to operate winter programming. We are also completely rebuilding “The Fort”, one of our favourite campout sites at our lake. We need your help to make these projects a success! Donors and volunteers are needed, so if you’re interested in getting involved or you have any questions about our projects or camp in general, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

God is good and we look forward to what he has in store for Ranger in the future.

While most people are enjoying springtime, we at Ranger Lake have our thoughts set on summer. We have plenty of new additions to our program that we’re preparing, like the newly upgraded climbing wall, ”Fresh Camp”, our teen camp that’s just for girls, and motorized water sports at select camps. Of course we still have the classics, such as canoeing, archery, paintball, and horseback riding. If you’re interested in checking some of these activities out, come to our Free-4-All on June 24th.

So far over 600 campers are registered for our summer camps. We still have plenty of room in our Squirt and all our teen camps, but if you’re thinking about registering for one of our Junior, DIRT, or Intermediate camps, head on over to our website and get signed up as soon as possible because space is limited! Our leader training program, “Work Crew” still has room for recruits as well, and this summer promises to be a great follow-up to its introduction last summer.

Once again we saw a group of new campers get to try out competitive racing along with the “pro” racers as the kids keep calling the adults who come from the SORRCC. Once again it was just the short course racers on the track as the touring car class wasn’t in attendance, however, we saw a cross over from one of the Touring car drivers join the SC class which added to some close knit races.

Once again, a shout out to Ethan for his great driving. Not only did he make the A-Main but he proved you had what it takes as he defeated a member of the Ranger Crew, Kyle Martin. Ethan’s looking to get his own gear and then he’ll put the pressure on some of those “pro” drivers!
