How to enter:

-one entry is given to one referee for each new camper that has never attended a Ranger Lake summer camp and registers (including paying their deposit) for a 2012 summer camp and lists the referee in the appropriate field
-only one referee may be entered per camper
-3 winners will be chosen in a random draw. Winners select one prize from the prize pool in the order they are drawn.
-only one of each prize is available
-you do not have to be present for the draw
-no purchase necessary to enter the draw
-only one winner per household
-Contest is open until June 15, 2012
-full-time Ranger staff and board members are exempt from this contest, including their immediate family members

RIRS – Results #2

We had a great race day this past weekend out in Langham and once again saw some new faces both from campers as well as from the Sask Off-Road Radio Control Racing Club (SORRCC) in Saskatoon. This time around the Short Course racers had the track to themselves as the Touring Cars took a break. This extra time allowed us to have additional qualifiers and more practice time on the track which no one was complaining about. While we did have a slight “glitch” during qualifiers we had it all straightened out just in time for the Mains. Big shout out to new driver Ethan for making it into the A-Main and placing 5th overall even after overcoming a battery issue during the main. Great driving Ethan, we look to see you climb that ladder as the series progresses.

RIRS – Leg #2

Just a note that our second leg in the racing series will be at a new location. Due to a scheduling conflict we have had to change the location to Langham. Therefore, racing will start at noon as before but you will want to make your way over to Langham Evangelical Bible Church. Jan 21st saw the first race ever for the new indoor series at Cornerstone Church. It was a great day for us to get started and we saw a dozen racers out for our 2 classes, Short Course and Stock Touring Car. After a brief delay due to a computer malfunction we got the day started. Quickly into the day we began to see that Touring cars are fast! Being that it was my first time seeing these cars race on a large track it was abit surprising at first at how nimble and quick those cars really are. And the young drivers seemed to enjoying watching them almost as much as driving the short course trucks.

Leader’s Retreat Coming Soon

Here’s an opportunity that will warm up your winter blues! If you are a camper in grades 8-11, you’re invited to come experience and learn what it takes to be a leader, try ice climbing, soak in the hot tubs, eat some delicious camp food and have tons of fun.

Ranger Lake Bible Camp is teaming up with Camp Kadesh to offer all of these things and more at our fantastic Leader Training Retreat on March 2-4, 2012

This retreat will offer great preparation for our summer Work Crew program, but is not a prerequisite.

Ranger Racing

Ranger Lake Bible Camp is proud to present our new fast-paced indoor radio controlled racing series! Ranger Indoor Racing Series (RIRS) will consist of a rotating schedule of races hosted at various locations starting with Biggar, North Battleford and Dalmeny, with additional venues to be announced. Individuals aged 12 and up may participate in all events.

RIRS uses electric 1/10 scale R/C trucks racing on an off-road style layout, complete with ramps and jumps. Other types of electric 1/10, 1/12 scale vehicles may use our track as demand increases in the future, including but not limited to stock touring cars. For on-road classes we will simply remove the ramps on the track layout.

Ranger Lake has 7 short course trucks available for rent, but you can also bring your own electric R/C’s for our ‘run what you bring’ class! We will not be charging extra for using rental trucks, nor will a discount be given for bring your own.

Race nights will consist of setup and practice times, a set of 5 minute qualifiers, and finish with 7 minute main races.

We will award points to racers for each race they are at with a championship race at the end of the series. Points are 100pts for 1st, 98pts for 2nd, etc, etc. With an additional 2 points for Top Qualifier. Series end points totals will be calculated based 50% of total races. So if we have 8 races in total, your top 4 races of points will be used to calculate the series points winner.

Racing is open to all adults and kids 12 years and older.

Mar 17 – Dalmeny at J.J.Loewen Centre
April 21 – North Battleford at Territorial Drive Alliance Church
May 18-19 Championships – Saskatoon at Cornerstone Church

Cost – $10 entry fee or $30 for a 2012 spring season membership.

2012 Theme

Our camp theme for this year is Transplanted. Though it’s tough to do the right thing, our world encourages us to try harder, that we can do anything if we just believe in ourselves. But if we are to follow Jesus, we have to abandon this reasoning. Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

Just like a tree can’t bear fruit if it’s planted in poor conditions, we can’t do truly good things on our own, no matter how hard we try. We all fall short, and like that tree, we need to be transplanted. Good fruit only comes when we uproot our shallow trust in self and get connected to Jesus. He is the source of life, hope, strength, and all good things.

Fall Updates Galore

If you’re over 18 and you’re a man, you NEED to check out Man Camp! On October 21-23, play paintball, enjoy the outdoors, shoot some guns, eat some food, and learn what it takes to be a real man of God. Cost is $120. Spots are filling up so register now!

Come celebrate what God did at Ranger this summer, eat some great food, and hear what’s in store next for Ranger at our annual fundraising fall banquet. Punch is served at 5:30 and supper at 6:00 on Saturday, November 5th at Cornerstone Church in Saskatoon. Cost is $10/plate or $30/family; please contact us by email or phone to reserve your spot.

We have a ton of lost and found items from summer camp. If you lost something and would like to have it back, please contact our office and we’ll take a look for you. Don’t delay! We’re donating all unclaimed items to charity on October 1st!
